Black Rifle Coffee Company
Black Rifle Coffee Co. is a leading coffee company held in high regard by the conservatives and patriots, thanks to the fact that it is led and run by veterans and sells premium-quality coffee.
Black Rifle coffee company’s mission is to honor men and women who choose to protect, support, and protect the country by giving back money from its coffee, apparel, and gear sales. Black Rifle Coffee is now listed on the NYSE, boosting the company’s value.
History of Black Rifle Coffee
Black Rifle Coffee Company was founded by Evan Hafer, an ex-army and Special Forces Veteran (he was a Green Beret) and also ex-CIA contractor, as his way of celebrating the men and women in the defense forces. Black Rifle was his way of building the coffee culture in the country through production and sale of the highest quality imported coffee.
The company’s name was inspired by the M4 Rifle, which also goes by the name Black Rifle in the US military corridors. Besides the name, he chose the company’s logo to include the iconic rifle, the brand’s symbol.
Even before he established the company, his love for a good cup of roasted coffee was unmatched, and he was a renowned professional coffee roaster. He not only roasted his beans, but he packed them up himself before heading out for missions.
After his 20-year-long military service, he retired to civilian life, roasting and serving coffee. He founded Black Rifle Coffee Company in Salt Lake, Utah, in 2014 with a mission to serve culture and coffee to the people who love America. Besides his love for coffee, he established the company as a way for him to offer premium-quality coffee to all outdoorsy lovers and individuals in the army. He ran things from his garage for the first two years, but within this time, and with lessons learned from his first failed venture, TwistRate, he’d found his ground and sent out as many as 24,000 orders over one weekend.
BY 2017, the company was run by 70 veterans, and Evan promised to keep giving job opportunities to retired veterans. Today, the company works with over 10,000 veterans. But the company doesn’t just hire veterans; they also help interested service members to transition into entrepreneurship from the military.
When COVID-19 shook the social fray as we all knew it in 2020, Black Rifle’s strong online presence was all the boost they needed, with their sales soaring upwards by 30%, and they continued growing, even as they continued supporting the military, as well as the Thin Blue Line.
They published their first online magazine, Coffee or Die, in 2018, a satirical online publication about life at home versus life on the battleground.
And as they continued their support for non-profits supporting veterans returning home in 2020 and 2021, while they amped their support for military officers, they moved to change their leadership direction.
SPAC Merger
In November 2021, newsrooms across the country reported about the move by the veteran-focused coffee company Black Rifle Coffee Company to go public thanks to a $1.7 billion SPAC deal (Special Purpose Acquisition Company deal). The decision to go public happened through a blank-check acquisition firm with $345 million in cash financing by SilverBox Engaged Merger Corp I (SBEA.O) held in SPAC’s trust and $300 million in the form of commitment by other investors. The company’s acquisition was through an Initial Public Offering.
Following the announcement, SPAC’s shares jumped by about 58% during early trade, reaching a record high value of $15.64 per share against the $12.01 initial share price.
At the close of the deal, it was speculated that Black Rifle’s total available capital was $545 million. Today, Black Rifle Coffee Company is a publicly traded company listed on the NYSE, with $0.39 billion in market capitalization.
Marketing Strategies
In addition to being a veteran and military-focused coffee brand, BRCC stands out because of the uniqueness of its marketing strategy, notably the fact that the company creates its content and has the most exciting names for its coffees. They keep inventing and reinventing the wheels, offering single-serve, whole bean, ground coffee options, and canned coffee varieties.
Overall, the brand is tied to its socially conservative and pro-gun image, not to mention its support for law enforcement and the American military service.
- Great online presence
BRCC boasts a talented and dedicated team of creatives that run the website and their online magazine, their YouTube channel, and the Black Rifle Coffee Podcast, through which they share everything about the company, often in the most comical and satirical ways. These online platforms have allowed them to create online communities which relate to and support the company.
- Loyalty Points
BRCC has coffee subscription plans through which their loyal customers earn redeemable loyalty points. The program keeps the customers happy and engaged, mainly because they know that every purchase goes on to support the military and veterans.
- Social Media
In addition to having the most versatile and the most responsive website, their social media presence, as well as their presence in the media, remains unmatched. Their use of comedy proves that the company knows what it is doing, even as it produces the best quality coffee, apparel, and bundled-up products. Black Rifle Coffee’s Instagram and Facebook pages have over 1.8M followers each; and 1.02M YouTube Subscribers.
Their donations and subsequent press releases also seem to go a long way in boosting the company’s brand presence and online capital. Their videos are over the top, and they use them to blend political stories, parodies, and different personalities, further driving the brand’s story, and their customers always notice.
Regardless of the marketing channels used, BRCC continues to deliver its story using its deep sense of irreverent humor. Additionally, the widespread and ever-growing engagement rate for this brand and products comes from a creative genius, Logan Stark, who leads their content creation team. They also have Jarred Taylor, a veteran, a creative and videographer, and the director of design at BRCCS. The marketing and advertising teams develop humorous, satirical content that spurs conversations and has the most distinctive product names and descriptions. These have helped drive the company’s revenue while encouraging new releases often.
All these strategies and individuals like Mohammad Wali Tasleem, one of the American veterans that fought against the Taliban with Hafer, spread BRCC’s values while displaying the brand’s simplicity, authenticity, and consistency. And all these have made this one of the fastest-growing and most successful American Coffee Brands.
Political Affiliation
Black Rifle Coffee Company’s image is primarily built on conservative politics, and their views support veterans, especially with more than half their employees being veterans. While this company identifies itself as lean conservative coffee, the founder is against some conservative subsets, specifically the extremists.
It’s also worth noting that while Hafer’s love for coffee roasting played a huge role in establishing the Black Rifle Coffee Company, Hafer’s main inspiration and driving force was patriotism. He’s also noted on several occasions that our love for coffee isn’t something new but a historical habit that is a massive part of American History and culture, with coffee drinking deeply ingrained in the American way of life.
As a side note, coffee’s popularity dates to the Revolutionary War, when tea fell out of favor with the colonists because it symbolized loyalty and honor for British Rule. After the Boston Tea Party fell, tea was no longer an American thing, and coffee took its place. It soon became obvious that coffee was much more the American way of life. And so, with this knowledge and his love for an excellent cup of coffee, he started working on his company, and BRCC was born.
So, when Hafer returned home to West Virginia, he set up Black Rifle Coffee Company, a brand built around his unapologetically patriotic sentiments and the fact that he is pro-military and Pro-Second Amendment.
Competitors
BRCC’s biggest competitor is Starbucks. The two have been going at it for a while, with their first rivalry dating back to 2017 when the company hired 10,000 veterans after calling a bluff on Starbucks’s promise to hire 10,000 refugees. This move set them apart from their competition. But even before this public display of dislike for each other, BRCC has been in Starbucks’ sights since its establishment, and they faced a great deal of resistance from Starbucks and other liberal coffee establishments. But Hafer and his team soldiered on, and his plans have since paid off incredibly.
They also keep beating their competition with canned coffee varieties like Espresso Mocha and Espresso Cream. These canned varieties are meant to rival Starbucks’ bottled Frappuccino options. Despite the competition, Starbucks still ranks higher on the stock markets. Keurig is also one of its competitor brands.
What is Black Rifle Coffee’s stock symbol?
Black Rifle Coffee Company’s stock symbol is BRCC, with each letter per quadrant encircled. Besides BRCC, it also goes by BRC on the NYSE. Note that the symbol used also represents the view from the rifle and is one of the things that the company stands behind.
Overall, the brand’s image/ symbol represents a combination of two of the most important things for the brand and Evan Hafer’s passions – his love for well-roasted coffee and, most importantly, his passion and pride in the veterans BRCC employs, as well as the causes the company supports.
Black Rifle Coffee stock price
BRCC’s stock trades at $7.33 a share, a 5.42% slight drop, albeit an upward trend for the company. It is currently ranked 65th under the largest beverage companies’ NYSE listing, with a $0.39 billion market capitalization.
The soaring stock prices result from the fact that this company has a strong foundation with solid marketing strategies, not to mention the fact that this company is on the right side of things politically. It is, after all, a patriotic brand. These aside, the company continued to record high numbers in sales from both subscription and non-subscription sales and from whole retailers like 7-Eleven, Walmart, and Sam’s Club.
Thanks to his decision to go the SPACs way, Hafer quickly found excellent investors, and the company’s value has risen.
Experts projected a 51% annual compounded growth rate between 2019 and 2023, and they expect the company to make a record $430.4 million in revenue in 2023, against an expected adjusted EBITDA of about $ 15.1 million.
It’s also worth noting that experts lauded BRCC’s decision to go public because the SPACs (IPO) cured the capital constraint issues that the company faced.
The current stock price outlook for the brand reveals that the company is consistently making a profit for the bullish buyers thanks to their breakout entry and the 7-8% stop-loss that’s rather disciplined.
What is Black Rifle Coffee’s Revenue?
This privately held company has a record revenue of between $100 and $500 million from their 4543 Direct Selling Establishments, online and in retail stores.
According to Black Rifle Coffee’s latest financials, as reported by the CompaniesMarketCap, they reported that their current earnings or TTM stood at $0.33B for the 2022 financial year, against earnings of $11.64M in 2021. These are earnings and pretax, which marked a 2656.83% increase in earnings.

How much does a Black Rifle Coffee Franchise Cost?
Starting a Black Rifle Coffee franchise costs between $1.12 million and $2.51 million. This range in cost comes about because one needs a minimum of $250,000 in base liquid capital to invest in a BRCC franchise, while the net worth for the base investment could be about $500,000. The cost of marketing, franchise fees, royalties, and the cost of setting up a profitable brick-and-mortar location all increase the cost of investing in a BRCC franchise.
