Equipment

  • A jar
  • A glass
  • A teaspoon
  • A knife

Ingredients

  • Coconut fruit
  • Peach juice
  • Passion juice
  • Passion fruit
  • Chilled tea
  • Ice
  • Lemon
  • Sugar

Instructions

  • To extract the coconut water, crack the coconut fruit by poking a hole on the soft spot of the shell using the knife. Pour the fresh coconut water into the jar.
  • Add the peach juice, passion juice and chilled tea into the water and stir to combine.
  • Cut the lemon and squeeze the juice into the mix for the extra flavor then add sugar for sweetening, stir and set the blend aside.
  • Put ice in the glass then pour the blend over the ice.
  • Cut the passion fruit and scoop the extract then add it into the drink. The seeds will float like a garnish. Stir gently with a straw to mix. I can feel the rich taste of this combination on my tongue as I write this down.
  • Let the drink sit for about 1 minute to cool in the ice.
  • Enjoy your delicious beverage!

Notes

  • The best thing about homemade drinks is the autonomy on the composition of the ingredients. You can therefore replace coconut water with plain water and still make a refreshingly passion fruit beverage.
  • I used chilled tea but you can also use coffee.
  • For the sweetening, you can go with syrup over sugar.
  • I only used the two primary juices but you can add the grape juice and apple juice as per the original Starbucks recipe. It's typically a loaded juicy drink so the more, the better.
  • If you want all the sweetness, you may forgo the lemon juice.
  • For the fancy vibes, go ahead and use the sparkling juice blend.
