What Is Caramel Brulée Topping At Starbucks?

How to Make The Starbucks Caramel Brulée Topping(Copycat recipe)

Kai Jordan
To make caramel brulée toppings like the one from Starbucks, you’ll need an oven, a baking sheet (specifically parchment paper), and a baking tray. In 5 minutes, you can use this equipment to make the toppings with ingredients that you can easily find in your kitchen. Here’s a simple recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
  • Thoroughly mix the sugar with salt.
  • Line your baking tray with parchment paper to stop the sugar from sticking as it bakes.
  • Spread the sugar blend onto the lined baking tray.
  • Bake the sugar mix at 375 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes until it melts. Remove from the oven when it turns golden brown. Carefully watch your mix as it cooks because sugar tends to burn fast. This process is called caramelization.
  • Let it cool and harden. Prepare your caramel brulée drink and pour it into a cup.
  • Crush the caramelized sugar into bits and use them to top off your drink with some whipped cream.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

If you have leftover toppings, you can store them in an airtight container at room temperature for several days, but use them as soon as possible since they stick together after some time. These copycat brulée toppings don’t have all the ingredients Starbucks uses in its caramel brulée toppings, but after I tried them, I realized they’re just as tasty. After all, this recipe makes healthier toppings because it skips the corn syrup Starbucks adds as an ingredient. Alternatively, if you’re short on time, you can crush some caramel candy and use it instead.
