There are days when one wakes up feeling like trying out new things. If you ever come across one of these days, you could try to make your homemade Starbucks chestnut praline latte. If you are an avid drinker of this seasonal latte, you can make it available all your round when you need it. You don’t have to wait for Starbucks to bring it back and feel like an emotional wreck when they take it away. This is how you can make one in the comfort of your home.
- 2 tablespoons chestnut praline syrup
- 2 Shots espresso
- 8 oz milk
- Well chopped pralines
The first step is to steam the milk. This is done using a milk steamer. Using your steam wand, froth the milk until hot and bubbly. If you do not have a steam wand, pour your milk into a pan and heat it on a stove. Whisk the milk after it boils until it makes small bubbles.
Extract two shots of espresso. This is done by filling your espresso machine with coarsely ground coffee and adding hot water of over 90 degrees Celsius. The water is then passed on to the coffee at high pressure. The extract is what is to be used.
Pour two shots into your latte glass. Add your steamed milk and follow with the chestnut praline syrup. Sprinkle the chopped pralines on top. You can customize it further by adding brown sugar and cinnamon syrup.
- If you prefer to make your chestnut syrup, start by roasting your chestnuts and pecans. Chop them together and cook with brown sugar and water in a saucepan. Strain out the mixture and you have your homemade syrup.
- The chestnut praline latte is most made during winter. This doesn’t mean that this drink is prohibited in summer. All you need to do is follow the steps above, but add cold milk over ice.
- You can still enjoy a great Starbucks chestnut praline latte using strong coffee. This is suitable for those who don’t have an espresso machine.
