What Is In a Starbucks Green Tea Frappuccino

How do you make a Starbucks green tea Frappuccino at home (recipe)?

Kai Jordan
It is possible to whip up a green tea Frappe at home. Here is what you are going to need.

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Grande
  • Cup
  • Saucepan
  • Stove

Ingredients

  • 240ml whole milk
  • 10 ice cubes
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • Water
  • 3 tbsp. sugar powder/ simple syrup
  • 11/2 tbsp. Matcha green tea
  • Whipped cream
  • Xanthan gum

Instructions

  • Measure the milk by pouring it into a drinking cup to the first line. Pour this into your blender.
  • Using the same cup, measure the ice by filling it at ¾ full. Ensure that you only use small ice cubes for easy blending.
  • Making the syrups: Pour water, vanilla, and sugar into a saucepan and place on medium heat. Stir the mixture until you get a thick consistency. Set aside to cool. If you are using simple syrup, mix sugar and water in a saucepan and place on medium heat. Stir continuously until you get a thick mixture. Set aside to cool.
  • The next step is to pour all the ingredients into the cup. Start by pouring the matcha green tea, cooled vanilla syrup, cooled simple syrup, and xanthan gum into the cup with ice.
  • Empty the full cup into the blender and blend. This should take one to two minutes.
  • Pour your green tea Frappuccino into your Grande cup. This is the same cup you used to measure your ingredients. Top it with a generous amount of whipped cream and enjoy.

Notes

It is possible to substitute whole milk with nonfat milk or plant-based milk. The whipped cream can also have some vanilla syrup added to it or you just use it as it is. You can opt to use sugar directly and not make simple syrup. Remember, the whipped cream is optional and you can opt to take your green tea Frappuccino without it.
