In the past two decades since Starbucks entered the Chinese market, it has managed to challenge the country’s traditions and convince tea drinkers to have coffee. The coffee house seemingly succeeded as the number of Starbucks stores in china have steadily increased over the years.
When Starbucks opened its first store in China, the Chinese knowledge of coffee only went as far as Nestle packets and ready to drink coffees. However, in the past two decades the coffee chain has managed to open more than 6000 stores in 230 cities as of 2023. Starbucks has offered a wide range of products at different price points and a welcoming atmosphere to cater for different types of consumers.
