Is There a Starbucks in Turkey (Starbucks Near Me in Turkey)?
Yes! There are Starbucks coffee houses in Turkey. In fact, the famous coffee house company has a strong presence in Turkey. It is widely popular and highly successful in the country. Some believe that Starbucks may have conquered the Turkish coffee market, offering very stiff competition to local cafes and coffee shops.
Brief History of Starbucks in Turkey
In 2002, Starbucks Coffee International and its subsidiary Starbucks Coffee Company entered into a partnership agreement with Shata Kahve Sanayi and Ticaret A.Ş. (which is Kuwait-owned). This gave the latter a license to set up Starbucks coffee houses in Turkey under the famous franchise brand. Starbucks then opened its first shop in Bağdat Avenue, Istanbul, an upscale Asian-dominant side of the city in 2003, and the following year two more branches were opened in Ankara. Numerous Starbucks shops have sprung up around Turkey since then.
Murat Çokgezen, an Economics professor at the Marmara University argues that Starbucks has managed to attract customers from different neighborhoods and socioeconomic backgrounds and not just the elite population as one would assume. This helps with Starbucks’ widespread popularity in Turkey. Additionally, back when Starbucks first opened, local coffee houses were far and between and they didn’t offer much variety beyond Turkish coffee. Starbucks filled this market gap and found its niche selling American coffee with a variety of flavors.
How Many Starbucks Shops are in Turkey?
As of July 2022, Starbucks has 536 stores spread across Turkey. Turkey has the second greatest number of Starbucks branches of all European countries, coming after the U.K. Of the 31,000 Starbucks branches worldwide, over 500 are in Turkey, and of the 2,509 Starbucks stores in Europe, 536 are in Turkey. The Starbucks shops are spread over 20 provinces in the country. Currently, the coffee franchise is still expanding and experiencing continued growth. How Much Does Starbucks Pay Its Employees in Turkey?
For most people, they must support ethical companies that treat and pay their workers well. As an American, I would only hope that American franchises would uphold the same good working conditions when operating abroad. Take a look at the salary rates of Starbucks employees working in Turkey (according to Glassdoor):
Position |
Approx. Annual Salary Pay (In Turkish Lira) |
Consulting User Experience Designer |
₺90,968 |
Barista |
₺62,400 |
Café Barista |
₺76,010 |
Planner |
₺54,449 |
Business Developer |
₺99,641 |
Assistant Manager |
₺83,913 |
Barmen |
₺66,000 |
Server/Waiter |
₺74,990 |
These rates are significantly lower than what their counterparts are paid in the U.S. and some developed countries but it may be argued that other factors may come into play such as labor practices overseas and in this case Turkish labor practices.

Do you ever have one of those days where you’re in an anti-social mood or maybe you’re having a bad hair day but still need your coffee fix? Well, I had a number of those during my stay in Turkey. Another drive-thru Starbucks can be found at Cumhuriyet, Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu Cd. No:115, 41420 Çayırova/Kocaeli, Turkey which closes at 10pm.

According to local Turks, Starbucks is an affordable option for them when they want to grab a cup of coffee. The local coffee houses are usually pricey with coffee that can be double the price of Starbucks’. Starbucks Delivery in Turkey
Being a New York native, I’d say I grew accustomed to 24-hour food delivery that reaches your door in 20 minutes or less. Even though there is no 24-hour Starbucks in Turkey, I still needed to have my go-to Starbucks order delivered to me when necessary. Luckily, Starbucks Turkey has a few delivery options.
What are the Delivery Options for Starbucks in Turkey?
For the days I was too lazy to get out of bed or just didn’t have the time to go into a physical shop, Starbucks Turkey offered the following convenient delivery options:
- Yemeksepeti – Via Yemeksepeti.com or their Yemeksepeti iOS and Android apps. This is the oldest and most popular food delivery service in Turkey. It was established in 2015. The minimum order must be ₺75 and delivery time is on average 30 minutes. The app also has English translation options which are helpful.
- Getir Yemek or Getir Food – Via Getir.com or their Getir Yemek Android and iOS apps. The minimum order amount is ₺50 and there is no delivery cost. English translation is also available on this platform.
- There is also the option of calling physical Starbucks shops and requesting delivery.
- Zomato.com and the Zomato Android and iOS apps can be useful resources for tourists in Turkey since this platform offers reviews and locations of nearby Starbucks. It is not a delivery app but is great when looking for a branch to seek a Starbucks delivery from.
The best part is that these websites and delivery methods can be used throughout Turkey. From Denizli to Antalya, they are available at your convenience. It is worth noting that Turkey, just like the U.S., has a tipping culture. It is customary to tip between 5% and 10% of one’s order depending on the total amount spent. The tip is not automatically added to the final bill on the app or website but it is a polite gesture to give to delivery personnel.
What are the Payment Options While Ordering Starbucks for Delivery in Turkey?
There is a myriad of payment options that one can use when ordering Starbucks via delivery methods. Opt for the one that best suits you and your needs. Digital and physical options are available. Check them out below:

Local coffee houses focused on Turkish coffee while Starbucks brought in other types of coffee. Starbucks has overcome economic and cultural hurdles to achieve a good level of commercial success.
