I sought to know how much they are paid per hour considering that this is mostly an entry-level low-skill job. For this information, I used previous job advertisements on the Starbucks website and I also discreetly asked a few baristas that served me. My research results were that baristas at Starbucks outlets in South Dakota are paid an average of $12.97 per hour. The lowest paid was $7.25 per hour while the highest is paid at $19.65. At first, I thought this was an impressive wage bracket given the minimum wage is $7.25. I mean, who does not love the convenience offered by delivery service? Do we even remember how life was before delivery services were availed to us? I know I don’t. In South Dakota, delivery services by Starbucks are available. From my experience, these delivery services are sufficiently fast and convenient for the client.

Starbucks uses Uber eats as the main platform for anyone who wants to use their delivery services . From the app, one can choose a variety of items available for delivery. Once you add the items you want to your cart, you give an address to where the rider is meant to deliver to ascertain if they deliver to that address. You then progress to choose your preferred payment method and you wait for your order to be delivered to the specified address.

The delivery services intensified during the peak of Covid-19. Since most stores were not allowing customers in their physical stores, they gave them the option to continue enjoying their Starbucks delights through deliveries. In addition to the drive-thru, grab-and-go café service, and order-ahead entryway pickup, the biggest hitter was home and office delivery. Though now Starbucks allows customers to sit inside the stores, the deliveries are still popular to many, myself included.

I have not used the door dash service which was recently introduced in Starbucks’ arsenal of home and office delivery. In this app, a customer keys in their address and the app shows the nearest Starbucks to that address. Using this store, one places an order that the app says is delivered within 40 minutes of delivery. The app offers multiple options for the order including group orders when ordering for a family event, a friend’s retreat, or even during a game night. Door dash also allows customers to schedule their deliveries in advance which is a service one can use if they feel they might get too busy to remember to make an order.
