What it’s made of

Jura coffee machines are typically made of high-quality materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, and plastic. The exact materials used can vary depending on the specific model and features. Still, the focus is on durability and longevity to ensure a long-lasting and reliable coffee-making experience for the user.

However, the materials used in Delonghi coffee machines can vary depending on the specific model. However, many Delonghi coffee machines are made of durable materials such as stainless steel and plastic. Some models also have a ceramic burr grinder for a more consistent grind. The machine’s body and specific components, such as the water tank, may also be plastic.

Jura wins this category because it is made of high-quality materials to ensure longevity.

Appearance

Coffee enthusiasts are always excited about the launch of the new Jura models. The brand is known for its innovative designs and cutting-edge technology. Jura’s coffee machines boast sleek lines and premium materials, typically stainless steel with black or silver accents.

On the other hand, Delonghi coffee machines have a more angular design and, while made of stainless steel, don’t have the same sleek appearance as Jura machines. Regarding brewing technology, Delonghi coffee makers are more basic, with no touch screen. Instead, you must grind, prepare, and pour the coffee manually.

Jura takes it in the design category, hands down. The brand’s attention to detail and use of high-quality materials perform well and look great.

Price

Jura products are known for being something other than budget-friendly options. The brand prioritizes using high-quality materials to create durable and long-lasting effects, often with a higher price tag.

If cost is a concern, Delonghi offers a range of coffee makers starting under $100, making them a more affordable option in the short term. However, it should be noted that these machines may not have the same durability as Jura’s higher-priced models.

Therefore, this category is a draw because Jura is long-lasting while Delonghi is affordable.

Coffee pods compatibility

Jura coffee machines are not compatible with pre-packaged coffee pods. They are designed to be used with ground coffee beans and have built-in grinders to make it easy to grind them right before brewing. Some Jura models have a bypass, which allows you to use pre-ground coffee if you prefer, but most Jura machines are not compatible with coffee pods.

The compatibility of coffee pods in Delonghi machines varies depending on the specific model. Some Delonghi may be compatible with coffee pods or capsules, while others may not. It is best to check the specifications of a particular Delonghi machine before purchasing it to determine if it is compatible with coffee pods or not.

Delonghi wins in this category due to its compatibility with coffee pods.

Warranty

Jura offers a warranty on their coffee machines, although the exact length and terms of the contract can vary depending on the specific model and where it was purchased. Jura generally offers a two-year warranty on their machines, covering any defects in materials or quality.

Warranty information for Delonghi coffee machines can vary depending on the specific model and retailer. However, Delonghi machines have a one-year warranty covering materials and quality defects.

Jura coffee machines win in this category due to the two-year warranty.

Capacity

The capacity of Jura coffee machines varies between models, ranging from 0.8 to 2.5 liters, depending on the machine size. It’s important to note that the ability refers to the water tank, bean hopper, and waste container.

On the other hand, the capacity of Delonghi coffee machines varies depending on the model. Some Delonghi machines with a total of up to 1.7 liters, while others may have a smaller tank of around 1.2 liters.

Jura takes it in this category because of the larger tank.

Ease of cleaning

Jura coffee machines are straightforward to clean, as they come equipped with automatic cleaning, rinsing, and descaling programs and feature an indicator to let you know when it’s time to run these programs. With the touch of a button, the Jura machine will take care of all the cleaning for you. Furthermore, the Jura system is certified by TUV, a prestigious hygiene award in the hospitality industry. Additionally, the machine runs self-cleaning cycles regularly to ensure optimal performance.

On the other hand, cleaning a Delonghi coffee machine is easy but requires manual labor. The removable parts of the Delonghi espresso machine are easy to handle and can be cleaned with dish soap and warm water. From time to time, a complete cleaning cycle can be performed using distilled white vinegar and water.

In this category, Jura coffee machines are the clear winner. With its seamless cleaning process, there are no parts to take apart and clean, making it hassle-free and mess-free.

Coffee quality

The Jura coffee machine has a pre-brew system known as the intelligent Pre-Brew system (IPBS), which moistens the coffee grounds before extraction, similar to pre-infusion in a semi-automatic machine. This, combined with the Pulse Extraction Process (PEP) in newer Jura models, allows for brewing high-quality espresso identical to what you would find in a coffee shop.

On the other hand, Delonghi machines produce a decent espresso, but the extraction process could be more advanced, resulting in a flavor that falls between espresso and drip coffee. This may be suitable for some households, especially those who prefer milder specialty in coffee, but it may not be to everyone’s liking.

If you take coffee seriously like me, the flavor is the most crucial aspect to consider, and in this aspect, Jura comes out on top.

Model

Jura offers a range of models for their coffee machines. Some popular models include Jura ENA Micro 9, Jura X8, Jura Z8, Jura S8, Jura J9.3, Jura ENA 8, and Jura D6.

On the other hand, Delonghi offers a range of models for their coffee machines, some of their popular models include the Delonghi EC155M Espresso Machine, Delonghi ECAM22110SB Super Automatic Espresso Machine, Delonghi ECAM28465M, and PrimaDonna Elite Fully Automatic Espresso Machine.

It is a draw in this category since they both have a variety of models.

Availability

The availability of Jura coffee machines varies depending on the location and retailer. Jura has a global presence and is widely available in many countries. You can find Jura machines at specialty coffee shops, kitchen appliance stores, and online retailers.

The availability of Delonghi coffee machines may vary depending on the region and retailer. However, Delonghi is a well-known brand with a vast distribution network, so their machines are widely available in many countries.

Both machines are globally available; therefore, it is a draw.

Milk frothing

With Delonghi machines, the preparation of milk is hands-on, using a steam wand that you add to a milk pitcher. This wand can either be automatic, automatically adjusting temperature and pressure, or manual, requiring you to control the steaming process manually.

In contrast, Jura coffee machines have a built-in milk frother that produces a fine compact bubble milk foam through its advanced frother technology. Refill the milk reservoir, and use the touch screen to set the desired temperature and type of milk foam, leaving the machine to work its magic.

Jura takes it in this category. This is attributed to its seamless process, ensuring it is messy and hassle-free.

Ease of use

Jura coffee machines are considered super-automatic, while Delonghi machines are semi-automatic. Jura machines are designed to make coffee with just the touch of a button and handle all the steps of the brewing process for you. They also have machine learning capabilities and smartphone connectivity.

On the other hand, Delonghi machines require more manual effort in brewing, including grinding the coffee and frothing the milk.

Delonghi machines require more manual effort compared to the convenience offered by Jura machines. Therefore, it is safe to say that Jura machines are easier to use.

Unfortunately, I bought a faulty Jura coffee machine. But Jura came through! After a call to customer service, I received personal support – no Chatbot. A new unit will be shipped out; I’ll swap units in the box and send ours back with the provided label.

Full-service automatic coffee maker with a delightfully small footprint and clever, eye-friendly design. The coffee is excellent; the water reservoir is adequate, as is the coffee bean holder/grinder. The milk foam quality is good, and the push-button interface makes milk drinks super easy.

I have had the Ena 5 Jura coffee machine since 2010, and it has been an excellent machine, but it was time for an upgrade, and man, I have been thrilled with the Ena 8 received in April of 2022. I can’t say enough good things about it. It’s pricy but saves your annual Starbucks bill in the first year.

This is the best super-automatic espresso machine if you consider ease of use, the quality of the milk-related coffee drinks, maintenance, and initial cost. We looked at many more expensive machines, but they needed to be more convenient to maintain and much more significant. We even bought a less expensive Gaggia Accademia but returned it because it needed frequent maintenance, and the drink quality was just okay.

Margaret

Important! This particular machine is a European model. It makes terrific coffee and espresso and is easy to use. Andrew from Flowmar was lovely to work with, even though I was rude. I would recommend this model.
