Starbucks has six roasteries worldwide. Being adventurous, I love moving from one country to another to see and create memories at major landmarks and historical venues. On my bucket list is to visit all Starbucks roasteries worldwide to experience their uniqueness firsthand.

In December 2014, Starbucks opened its 1st Reserve Roastery in Seattle’s lively Capitol Hill neighborhood. The roastery is a dramatic and immersive expression of Starbucks’ passion for coffee. The roastery is not that far from Starbucks’ original location, Starbucks Pike Place.

Shanghai Roastery’s Design
The roastery was created to capture Starbucks’ passions, magic, and ambitions in one place. The goal of building this massive Starbucks store was to harness Starbucks’ past, present, and future.
Features in this roastery include; three massive coffee experience bars, a two-storey copper cask (40-ton), a Princi bakery (the first in Asia), and a Teavana Bar (3-D printed).
The roastery offers visitors an insider’s digital peep at different features through state-of-art AR technology. For instance, they get the chance to take a peek into the massive copper cask as well as the brewing methods, transfer pipes, package station, and much more details.
Shanghai Roastery’s Menu
The roastery boasts a one-of-a-kind drinks menu you will not find in any other Starbucks store in China.
The design of this roastery is inspired by coffee. The roastery is exclusively created for China and is impossible to replicate.
Milano Roastery
In September 2018, Starbucks opened its Reserve Roastery in Milano. The roastery pays tribute to the craft, science, and passion of coffee, a gift from Milano to other parts of the world. The roastery is located in Piazza Cordusio inside the historic Postal Building. It is only one street away from Teatro alla Scala, Duomo di Milano, and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The reserve is 25000 square feet in size.

The Milano roastery has a one-of-a-kind menu. The roastery’s love for discovery, innovation, and craft is noticeable in its ever-evolving menu of food, cocktails, and coffee. The menu includes flights and experiences, brew methods, roastery beverages, arriviamo bar craft cocktails, and Princi bakery items.
New York Roastery
In December 2018, only two months after the Milano Roastery, Starbucks opened its 4th roastery in New York, the most energetic city worldwide. The roastery is strategically located in New York’s Meatpacking District. The store is inspired by the many decades of manufacturing in the neighborhood. The roastery’s interior is thoughtfully designed. It features interactive and immersive elements to bring you closer to Starbucks’ coffee creation journey- from the farm to roasting and brewing and finally to your coffee cup.

New York Roastery’s Design
The roastery features the first Arriviamo Bar in the United States. The bar serves spirit-frees and cocktails that the roastery creates in collaboration with Julia Momose, a renowned mixologist. You can also find fresh bakery items at the roastery’s Princi Bar. Other features of the roastery include; the main, experience, scooping bars, and a hand-picked coffee display.
New York Roastery’s Menu
At the New York Roastery, you can choose to dine in and enjoy your favorite Princi bakery items and rare beverages from the different bars (main, experience, and arriviamo) or order for takeaway. You can also order select items via Uber Eats.
Tokyo Roastery
In February 2019, Starbucks opened its 5th roastery in Tokyo, Japan. Starbucks designed the roastery to create an immersive, fun coffee and retail experience. The design was inspired by Japan’s appreciation of good quality, service, and craft; it is also a tribute to the country’s beauty. The location has a floor size of 32000 square feet and is located inside a four-storey building.

Tokyo Roastery’s Design
This roastery is located inside a four-storey building. The first floor features the main bar, copper cask, clacker board, roasters, symphony pipes, and the Princi bakery. The second floor features the Teavana bar and merchandise, a Japanese paper (Washi) wall, an origami ceiling, and a teacup wall. The third floor is home to an arriviamo bar, card wall, cold brew silos, and an outdoor experience. The topmost/fourth floor houses the AMU inspiration lounge and the skylight.

Chicago Roastery
On November 15, 2019, Starbucks opened its 6th roastery in Chicago, Illinois. The roastery is located on The Magnificent Mile and is 35000 square feet in size. On the five floors of this massive Starbucks, you will enjoy delicious beverages and food items created with rare ingredients.

Chicago Roastery’s Design
The roastery is located in a five-floor building. The first floor features a Starbucks reserve coffee bar, scooping bar, cask, clacker board, roaster, a display of coffees handpicked on-site, a mural, and card walls. The second floor is entirely dedicated to the Princi bakery; the third floor is home to an experiential coffee bar and a flavor wheel. The arriviamo cocktail bar and the barrel-aged coffee bar are on the fourth floor. The fifth floor features a roof terrace with a fantastic view of Michigan Avenue.

At the Chicago Roastery, you can choose to dine in and enjoy your favorite Princi bakery items and rare beverages from the different bars (Starbucks reserve coffee, barrel-aged coffee, and arriviamo cocktail) or order takeaway. You can also order select items via Uber Eats.
