What are Starbucks rewards?

Starbucks rewards are exclusive benefits that one gains access to after joining the Starbucks loyalty program. The rewards are in the form of Stars. To earn the Stars, you must first become a rewards program member.

To be a member, navigate to the Starbucks rewards page on the Starbucks website or app. Create an account by filling in all required fields with relevant details. After successfully creating your account, anything you order from Starbucks and pay through debit/credit card, cash, or the Starbucks app will earn you stars.

If you pay through your credit/debit card, you will earn 1 star for every dollar you spend at Starbucks. On the other hand, if you preload your Starbucks card and use it to pay at the register, you will earn two stars for every dollar you spend at Starbucks.

You can redeem 25 stars for free customization of your drink. For instance, you can request oat milk or coconut milk instead of regular milk. Also, you can request the barista to give you an extra shot of espresso into your drink. 50 stars are redeemable for hot tea, brewed coffee, or a bakery item. You redeem 150 stars for a handcrafted drink, parfait, or hot breakfast. With 200 stars, you can get a free protein box, sandwich, or salad. Lastly, if you have accumulated 400 stars, you can redeem them for an at-home coffee or select merchandise.

However, it is important to note that you can only earn or redeem Starbucks stars/ rewards from participating stores. Not all Starbucks stores participate in the rewards program.

When do Starbucks rewards expire?

Starbucks stars are added to your rewards account before 24 hours are over after making an eligible purchase at any participating store. The stars expire 6 months after the month in which the stars were debited to your account. For instance, if the stars were debited to your count on December 25, 2022, if you have not redeemed them by July 1, 2023, they will expire and disappear from your stars balance.

Stars you earn through the Starbucks rewards; visa card or visa prepaid card do not expire, provided your credit or prepaid card account is active.
