The first coffee shop in the UK opened in London in 1652 in St. Michaels Alley. This was the offset of the coffee market in the UK which now generates revenue of 1.97 billion dollars in 2023 and is expected to continue growing by at least 1% every year and reach 3 billion dollars in 2028.
The UK is also one of Europe’s largest coffee importer with an import value of over 600 million dollars. While it is a major coffee consumer and importer, the United Kingdom also has its fair share of exports valued of over 250 million dollars.
